“I take a broad-based approach in my vascular surgery practice. A lot of it is tailored to what the community needs. Especially here, it involves PAD (peripheral arterial disease), claudication, critical limb ischemia, dialysis access (creation & maintenance), venous disease (especially varicose veins and wounds), aortic repair, and carotid disease. Generally, it’s a large encompassing practice and we just try to meet the needs of the community.
I love vascular surgery for a couple of reasons. One, there are a lot of different solutions to a challenging problem. And you have continual care with patients, so when you meet them, it’s someone that you can have for your lifetime to help take care of. In addition, the procedures are varied and complex. Everything from open procedures with big incisions to minimally invasive with small pokes in the groins. It offers a wide range of procedures all across the body and the ability to take care of a patient in a variety of ways.” – Dr. Patrick Yu
