How Hard is It to Get Approved for Bariatric Surgery?

If you meet the above criteria then you will most likely be approved for this type of procedure. There is not much wiggle room for requirements as this is a serious and major surgery. After an initial consultation for this surgery it may take a week or two for your provider to give you the green light.

What is the minimum weight requirement for bariatric surgery?

While there is not a set minimum weight to undergo bariatric surgery, there is a set BMI range that makes up an ideal candidate for this surgery. That BMI range is between 30 – 35 with additional obesity related conditions, or a BMI over 40.
