About Dr. Shelton
Dr. Shelton attended college at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX in 1985. Dr. Shelton completed his Internship and Residency in General Surgery at Barnes Hospital – Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. He also completed a research fellowship in transplantation at Washington University School of Medicine. He followed this training by completing his fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

After completing his many years of training, Dr. Shelton began work in Columbia, TN where he spent nine years working at Maury Regional Hospital in private practice. During his surgical career at Maury Regional Hospital, Dr. Shelton served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Division Chief of the Surgery Section and Secretary of the Medical Staff Executive Committee. He then moved to Paducah, KY where he spent two years in private practice before making Southern Hills Medical Center his home for his own private practice in 2005.
Dr. Shelton joined Southern Hills Surgical Consultants in 2012. Dr. Shelton is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and belongs to the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Dr. Shelton is married to Angie Shelton. They have 3 children and reside in Nashville, TN.
