Christine Cahill, ANP-BC
Adult Nurse Practitioner
The Surgical Clinic’s nurse practitioner, Christine Cahill, ANP-BC, provides continued surveillance for a variety of patients treated for vascular diseases, both before and after treatment. Specifically, she monitors carotid occlusive disease, peripheral vascular disease, renal and mesenteric artery stenosis. To accomplish this, she uses ultrasound and vascular labs to detect disease progression over time, and assess the need for surgical intervention or medication therapy.
Ms. Cahill also provides surveillance for patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms using ultrasound or CT scans to monitor the size and discuss surgical intervention if the aneurysm continues to grow.
Post-operatively, she monitors patients who have undergone surgical endovascular repair for abdominal aortic aneurysms with yearly CT scans. Following lower extremity bypass procedures and stenting, duplex studies are provided at three-month, six-month, and year intervals to check the patency of the artery bypasses and stents to detect problems and blockages before they become symptomatic.
Wound care for patients following surgery is also provided. Keeping incision wounds and other surgical cuts clean and bandaged properly helps patients heal quickly and experience minimal scarring.
